For many years, the forest had remained silent. There were no people, no buildings, no hunters... nothing usually cared enough to come upon this accursed land. And it was at the center of this deep forest, where a azure-haired girl decided to live, taking only small things, to survive and build her home. There, at the center of the deepest part of the forest, was a small clearing, where a singular hutch sat. The vast trees surrounding the clearing kept the winds down, and other than a hard rain once in a while, the sun was always shimmering down -on the old sod house.

For the moment, the sun was bright, and warm. The lands were ripe, and the seasons were good for hunting and scavenging. The female with the blue hair rose from her bed early, thanks to the familiar calls of the birds landed on her rooftop. She wandered over to her kitchen-like area, which was made of wood and a few wooden tables and chairs. The only thing she'd slept on, was in fact an animal skin collection, thrown over a wooden set-up for a bed. She could feel the dry flooring beneath her feet as she walked over to snatch a pear, laying out on the counter-top. She ate it and grinned, then grabbed her bow, and a set of arrows. She would make her way out of the house, and only stop, to light a fire just outside her hutch.

The girl then left wistfully, and headed into the forest, searching for something to eat.

Running away from life, was a younger kid by the name of Melvin, though everyone seemed to call him 'Mel' for short. He had angrily tore out of his school, after getting into a fight with a kid bigger than him. After the teachers and principal had sent both boys home, this one had decided it was time to leave for good. Slipping on a lime green and black tunic, Mel grabbed his things, and left - crawling straight out of his window. He was a smart boy for one so young, and was surely looking forwards to not doing anything with his life ever again. Other than living as a hermit in the woods. What a wonderful thing to shoot for this day in age.

But whatever. It was better to him then what he was dealing with at school. Constant fights because kids were assholes, girls never leaving him alone - his father beating him and sending him to school with new scratches, lumps, and bruises... his mother never stepping in for them or leaving so that they could both avoid a beating... yeah. His life was just fucking great. And so he left.

Climbing out the window was the easy part. The rest was all running, and for a while there - dodging his dad's shotgun. His dad knew him to sneak out all the time, and would load the gun with traq darts because he thought it was funny to shoot his kid and make him pass out. He also thought it was funny to beat and savagely rape his kid, while the mother alone sobbed in her room about it. As soon as Mel's feet touched the grass to the outside, he ran, and didn't look back. He ran until he couldn't breathe, then ran some more. He ran for two whole hours, and then collapsed some time later, in a random place. He had no idea he was on the bad side of the forest, even the rumors were even true and there was one...

The girl with the azure hair lowered her bow. She was about to let her arrow fly at a rather large buck, when it was suddenly startled by loud footsteps and clashing trees and thickets. It leaped away immediately, and a moment later - something, or someone, came into view. And although he was dressed like a ridiculously-colored wolf cub, he was surely not an animal.

The girl put the bow down in the leaves and grass, and slowly crept closer to the fallen child. He was completely passed out, but he was breathing as she listened to his heart. He had a few scrapes over his face, and she figured he'd gotten them from the forest, that he'd just run through. She carefully put her fingers into her mouth, pointing her head away from the boy's, and drew out a long hard whistle.

Like nothing, birds scattered from the trees, and animals went into hiding. The sound was associated with a number of wolves, that belonged to a pack which this girl somehow grew up with. Only about a minute or two later, several of the four-legged creatures, came into view. All of them drooling, and growling, like starved beasts. When they saw the boy laying there, they inched closer, until the girl hissed at them, indicating it was NOT food. One of the largest and oldest wolves made his way over to the girl, enjoying the soft stroking she gave him just over his snout. He leaned down and smelled the passed-out child, then raised his head, checking out his surroundings.

The girl sighed softly, and lifted the boy into her arms, and smoothed down his bluish hair. She hummed softly with the wolves around to protect her, waiting for him to wake up.

The kid opened his glassy greenish eyes and found himself in the arms of a strange girl there in the forest. She had bright blue hair, even brighter than his was, and radiant blue eyes. She was so pale and different-looking, that he wondered if she was a manifestation of his own mind, or if she wasn't human. For such a young kid, the first thing to think, was that she was either an Angel, come to help him. Or a demon, ready to trick him. Strangely though, he knew she wasn't a demon. Though, looking at her, she had no wings or halo either. So maybe she wasn't even an Angel. Whatever the case, he yawned and sat up.

"Who are you?" He wondered, slowly looking at her. "Whoa! And who are they?!" He exclaimed, noting that they were surrounded by at least twenty monstrous beasts. They were wolves, just really huge ones. How they got so large, he had no idea. Perhaps it was from eating a lot of... meat. Or.. human kids that wandered into forests that were said to be cursed... "We gotta get outta here before they eat us." Mel said, tugging on the girl's shirt.
